My two new characters, took me a looooongggg time (seriously! wouldnt think so, eh? ) to make them 'perfect' in my opinion. I just love them! I draw them EVERYWHERE - on my books, tests, homework, every random piece of paper. Especially Charles because he's the easiest one.
Actually, I started with just one character: a nameless random girl. I drew her on all my books and stuff but I thought she was a bit boring, so I added a pirate XD Billy was born!! Then, I still found the girl a bit boring. I gave her a crown and a nice coat but the hair didnt looked too good with a crown, so I shaved her head and yes: Charles was born!! XD
I know they look simple, but I did put a lot of thought in it! I tried lots of different hats, colors, patterns, expressions, whatever to make them look the best way I can.
Im not sure what Im going to do with these two, I'll start making comics or something about them - at least I want to do something with them and not just draw them randomly everywhere but do something serious.
Done this one with:
- east-Indian ink (is that the right English term?)
- water-paint-aquarel-stuff (thats not the right English term.)
- my markers *loves* , Pantone Letra Set Tria System markers (dont exactly know the right order but theyre the best ).
I used like 7 different markers to get the crown right!! o.o
Oh, before I forget! Im already making friends for them XD. I know it sounds really lame but actually their friends rock. I'll upload some pics of them later. I already have Anorexic Jenny (rofl!!) all done, after a lot of changing and designing and just plain drawing. She looks creepy and thin but she's a great friend of Charles and Billy, though. No idea why. XD
Im also busy with Alex, some floating girl (seriously!) and Arnold, a random guy who looks weird but just wants to hug everybody all day long.
Hope this doesnt make me look too stupid. o.o
And I also hope you like it!
Thank you for your time!!!
You did what???You put a crown on her, shaved her head and made her into a MAN? I think Charles is going to have some serious issues Kelly. I hope you don't treat your pets that way.
Captain Billy there looks like he's already dealing with a few issues of his own. For a pirate that is supposed to spend all his time drinking, chasing skirts and spending treasure, he doesn't look too happy... Maybe King Charles has been reminiscing about his feminine past and got a little too friendly with Captain Billy....
I think mixing all those styles of shading (paint, pantone, hatching) looks really cool on the simple lineart. So strange to see the shiny pantone smooth clothes (especially Billy's shirt) against that rough, textury watercolour background. It seems (to me, although I don't know anything about art!) very unique. Like your own artistic style. I liked the very cute untitled girl you just did. But this seems so strange that it is very, very interesting. And NO, experimenting in art does NOT make you look too stupid! Sheesh! Looking forward to see what you do with them!
...Maybe Charles and Billy could pool their treasures together and buy some good time with a psychological therapist...
I almost forgot - cool signature! 3d shading woohoo! Great to see you doing new and different things!
DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
